I miss you. Come home. The kids started asking about you. I can wait for you to come back, but please just tell me the last time I ate a salvation was not truly the last bite of Alvin Ords I will ever have digested. Oh how much slower I would have chewed. Tell me that there exists a time in the future where your booths are still scribbled on and your sandwiches consumed over joyful conversation. Tell me there is a day where I may sit down with my family and show my children the sandwich that got me through college. Until then I will keep hope that I will one day walk through your doors to once again smell your glorious temptation.
If this delicious sandwich shop wasn't 5 hours from my house I would have already hit it again. Friends from the area took me, and I'm still thinking about it. That sandwich was delicious. I ate the whole thing! I was dizzy when I finished it!! No, there's not anything fancy about the establishment itself, but the sandwich was a sexy, savory, fresh, tasty, treat! I hope to visit again one day... I might even road trip out that way JUST to get a sandwich!
Rock on the jukebox, in-house made bread, indipendently owned, stones throw away from Texas States main campus, art work everywhere... What's not to love about this place? Some things to be aware of: my sandwich is the largest size which was the salvation for 1495. You can go for wheat or kaiser roll bun (made in house). My sandwich was hot, fresh, awesome melted cheese, ham and salami, lettuce, pickle, and mustard. Tasty and pretty big! Support small business, because Subway isn't fresh 🤢
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at your Alvin Ords Location on 11/26/2025 around 7:00 PM. My family and I traveled from Lockhart specifically to pick up an order of 10 sandwiches that I had called in ahead of time. I spoke with a young lady who took the order. Upon arrival, I approached a gentleman to collect my order. He was unprofessional and failed to greet me. When I asked him to confirm the order size, he counted only 4 sandwiches. When I requested the remaining six sandwiches be made, he refused, stating he did not have time, despite the lobby being dead. Furthermore, when I asked to speak to a manager, I was informed there was none, and that the owners would not care about the situation. His attitude was extremely dismissive; he said, "too bad" and blamed me for placing a large order. The employee who initially took the order was hiding in the back and did not apologize. I have been a loyal customer of Alvin Ords for years and have fond memories of the excellent service in the past. The level of service I experienced this time was appalling and unacceptable. Staff who are indifferent and disrespectful reflect poorly on your business. I request that this matter be looked into immediately. I would appreciate a response regarding how you plan to address the behavior of your staff and rectify this poor customer experience. I am not looking for any free food. I would just love to enjoy an establishment that once cared about their customers
Great sandwiches and great service. My only gripe about this place is the prices. While the sandwiches are spectacular, they aren’t made with anything super fancy. General stuff you can find at any grocery store for not that much. The real star of the show is the bread (which i believe is homemade). The prices for the sandwiches are way more than i’d like to pay for what they are. Desserts are also apparently store bought and quite pricey as well. For the prices they’re charging for the sandwhich alone, they could at the very least throw in the chips as well. Will come back but sparingly and not as often as i’d like since I can’t afford to drop this much money on a sandwhich.
We use to have an Alvin Ord's In Belton Texas. But sadly they closed. My son is living in San Marcos right now and He called and said he found the restaurant there. So on my next visit, we absolutely went to Alvin Ord's for lunch, and have a couple times since when I go to visit. The sandwiches are amazing, the bread is out of this world fresh.
If you’re looking for a great sandwich, Alvin Ord’s is the place. The French bread is second to none. You can’t go wrong ordering The Salvation, which is the most popular sandwich. Medium is a great size if you’re eating solo, but Large is a good option if you want to split or have leftovers.
The Salvation on french with mayo and mustard will always have my heart, no matter the size. I love that they’ve stepped up their offerings to include homemade deserts. I’ve loved the lemon bars and most recently a banana pudding. If my car is in a 15 mile radius of Alvin Ord’s I have to go. So thankful they are still around, I’ll love you forever Alvin Ord’s 🖤
